About
Dr. Majid Khan is a pioneering spine surgeon and researcher whose work is transforming spinal surgery through augmented reality (AR) and robotics. His primary research focuses on developing and validating advanced image-guided technologies to improve the accuracy, safety, and efficiency of complex spinal procedures while reducing radiation exposure. Dr. Khan’s most impactful contribution is his proof-of-concept study on AR-assisted pedicle screw insertion, which demonstrated that projecting visual data directly onto the surgeon’s retina could enhance technical feasibility and accuracy over conventional methods—a work cited over 150 times. He further advanced the field by showing the viability of MRI-based synthetic CT for robot-assisted screw fixation, paving the way for radiation-free spine surgery.
