Kazuki Sumiyama is a pioneering figure in therapeutic flexible endoscopy, whose work has fundamentally advanced the field of endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) and natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (NOTES). His research centers on developing robotic platforms to overcome the inherent limitations of conventional endoscopy, particularly the lack of triangulation and counter traction during complex procedures.
