Hisao Tajiri is a pioneering figure in the field of endoscopic robotics, specializing in the development of advanced surgical systems for minimally invasive gastrointestinal procedures. His major contributions center on creating robotic platforms that enhance the dexterity and precision of endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), a technically demanding procedure for removing early-stage gastrointestinal cancers. Tajiri’s most notable work includes the development of the MASTER (Master and Slave Transluminal Endoscopic Robot) system, which addresses the critical challenge of counter traction during ESD by providing two articulated manipulators.
