About
Karol Dawidowicz is a geodesist and GNSS researcher whose work focuses on satellite navigation systems, antenna calibration, and geodetic reference networks. Based at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, Poland, he has made significant contributions to the precise calibration of GNSS receiver antennas — a critical but technically demanding aspect of high-accuracy positioning. His most cited work, "Antenna phase center correction differences from robot and chamber calibrations" (2020, 19 citations), investigates discrepancies between calibration methodologies for modern multi-frequency antennas, directly addressing challenges introduced by the ongoing modernization of GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou systems. Dawidowicz has also played a key role in developing a European GNSS antenna calibration facility in collaboration with Astri Polska and the European Space Agency, with preliminary results published in 2021 attracting 14 citations. His research further examines how antenna and radome changes affect position time series in the EUREF Permanent Network, informing best practices for geodetic infrastructure management. Through both applied and theoretical contributions, Dawidowicz is helping shape more reliable and precise global navigation standards for the scientific community.
