Dr. Junjian Zhou is pioneering the frontier of biohybrid microrobotics for targeted cancer therapy, with a focused emphasis on glioblastoma (GBM)—one of the most intractable brain cancers. His research uniquely integrates cross-scale drug delivery, magnetic actuation, and deep learning-based control to overcome critical physiological barriers. Zhou’s major contributions include the development of diatom-based microrobots capable of combined chemical and photodynamic therapy, as demonstrated in his highly cited 2024 work (30 citations), which addresses the dual challenges of long-distance intravenous travel and blood-brain barrier penetration.
