About
June Young Choi is a pioneering surgical researcher whose career has been defined by the development and refinement of minimally invasive and robotic approaches to thyroid and adrenal surgery. Most prominently, Choi has championed the Bilateral Axillo-Breast Approach (BABA) robotic thyroidectomy, a scarless technique that eliminates visible neck incisions by routing surgical instruments through the axilla and breast. His landmark 2013 review of over 1,000 BABA cases (128 citations) and his 2011 comparative study against conventional open thyroidectomy (103 citations) established the procedure's oncologic equivalence and cosmetic superiority, helping to legitimize robotic thyroidectomy within the global surgical community.
