Jin Wook Yi is a pioneering surgical innovator whose research has fundamentally advanced minimally invasive and robotic thyroid surgery. Based primarily in South Korea, Yi has dedicated his career to refining and expanding the bilateral axillo-breast approach (BABA) for robotic thyroidectomy, a technique that allows surgeons to operate without visible neck incisions, offering significant cosmetic and recovery benefits to patients. Yi's most influential contribution — garnering 92 citations — introduced indocyanine green fluorescence with Firefly® technology for intraoperative parathyroid localization during robotic thyroidectomy, addressing one of the procedure's most critical safety challenges.
