About
Joseph Melko is a robotics and aerospace engineer whose career has centered on the design and operation of robotic systems for planetary exploration, with a particular focus on Mars surface missions. His most influential contribution is his foundational work on the Mars Exploration Rover (MER) Instrument Deployment Device (IDD), a sophisticated robotic arm system that enabled in situ scientific analysis of the Martian surface.
