Jorge L. Sarmiento is a pioneering oceanographer whose research has fundamentally reshaped our understanding of the global carbon cycle and the role of the Southern Ocean in regulating Earth's climate. His work masterfully combines large-scale observations with advanced numerical modeling to tackle critical questions about marine biogeochemistry and ecosystem dynamics.
