Jesmond Dalli is a leading figure in the study of specialized pro-resolving mediators (SPMs) and their role in inflammation resolution. His research has fundamentally reshaped our understanding of how the immune system actively terminates inflammation, moving beyond the traditional view of resolution as a passive process. Dalli’s major contributions include the discovery and characterization of novel SPM families, such as the maresins and protectins, which are biosynthesized from omega-3 fatty acids.
