James H. Kaufman made significant contributions to the field of clinical biochemistry and laboratory automation during the 1960s, at a time when automated diagnostic procedures were transforming medical testing. His most influential work, "The Automated Determination of Serum Uric Acid" (1966), garnered 42 citations and introduced an innovative enzymatic procedure adaptable to both the AutoAnalyzer and the Robot Chemist platforms, measuring uric acid via the neocuproine-copper complex method.
