J. T. S. Cahill is a planetary scientist whose research focuses on the remote sensing of airless bodies, with a particular emphasis on the Moon’s surface composition, volatiles, and space weathering. Cahill’s major contributions include leading global observations of the Moon using the Miniature Radio Frequency (Mini-RF) instrument, which provided unprecedented radar imaging of lunar polar regions and helped characterize the physical properties of the surface.
