Amanda Hendrix is a planetary scientist whose research focuses on the chemistry and composition of airless bodies across the solar system, with a particular emphasis on the Moon, asteroids, and icy satellites. She is a leading figure in the study of volatiles—water, carbon dioxide, and ammonia—trapped in permanently shadowed regions, as demonstrated by her work on the Lyman Alpha Mapping Project (LAMP) aboard the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter.
