About
Ibrahim Tahir is a rising leader in materials science, pioneering the use of photomechanical crystals as a new class of soft robotics. His work focuses on dynamic molecular crystals that convert light directly into mechanical motion, offering a revolutionary approach to micro-actuation. In his highly cited 2024 study (55 citations), Tahir demonstrated how these crystals can function as fully autonomous, light-activated organic soft microrobots, overcoming previous limitations in actuator functionality. He further expanded the field’s geometric possibilities by engineering the first-ever logarithmic and Archimedean organic crystalline spirals (13 citations).
