Hironobu Kikuchi is a leading figure in industrial robotics and reconfigurable manufacturing systems, with a career dedicated to making assembly lines smarter, more flexible, and easier to program. His foundational work on automated robot coordinate calibration—a critical step for precision in reconfigurable setups—has been widely cited (47 citations), enabling rapid system retooling without manual intervention. Kikuchi’s most influential contribution, however, lies in bridging the gap between human skill and machine execution.
