About
Harun Coskan is a leading medical physicist whose work has advanced the precision of stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT). His primary research focuses on the characterization and clinical implementation of advanced collimation technologies for robotic radiosurgery systems, particularly the CyberKnife platform. Coskan’s most significant contribution is his pioneering evaluation of the first commercial multileaf collimator (MLC) designed for a robotic delivery system—the InCise™ MLC. In his landmark 2016 study, which has garnered 35 citations, he meticulously assessed the device’s beam properties, dosimetric characteristics, and overall performance during a five-month preclinical period. This work provided the foundational data necessary for the safe and effective clinical adoption of the MLC, enabling more conformal dose distributions and faster treatment times compared to traditional fixed cones. His earlier conference proceeding on the same topic (2015) laid the groundwork for this innovation.
