Gregory Swanson is a pioneering aerospace engineer whose work focuses on the extreme environments of atmospheric Entry, Descent, and Landing (EDL) and the hazards of space debris. His research is instrumental in ensuring the safety and success of both robotic and human spaceflight missions. Swanson’s most notable contribution is his comprehensive white paper on EDL instrumentation, which establishes the state-of-the-art for engineering sensors used on vehicles entering planetary atmospheres.
