About
Frossie Economou is a pioneering figure in astronomical cyberinfrastructure, whose work has fundamentally reshaped how telescopes, databases, and computing resources collaborate. Her research centers on intelligent observing systems, heterogeneous telescope networks, and the development of standard protocols for automated astronomy. As the lead of the eSTAR Project, Economou introduced intelligent agent technologies that enable robotic telescopes to autonomously discover resources, submit observation requests, and analyze reduced data in real-time—a system capable of data mining and cross-correlation across online catalogs.
