About
M. Burgdorf is a prominent astrophysicist whose research spans gravitational microlensing, exoplanet detection, and time-domain astronomy using robotic telescope networks. A central thread throughout their career has been the development and deployment of automated observational systems capable of detecting planets of Earth mass and below — a frontier largely inaccessible to other discovery techniques. Burgdorf was a key contributor to RoboNet-II, a global network of 2-meter robotic telescopes that revolutionized real-time follow-up of microlensing events in the Galactic Bulge, accumulating over 100 citations.
