Fengjie Zheng is a leading researcher in satellite-based aerosol remote sensing, with a focus on improving the accuracy of aerosol optical depth (AOD) retrievals over East Asia. Their work is central to understanding how atmospheric particles affect climate and air quality. Zheng’s most impactful contribution is a novel algorithm for retrieving AOD from Himawari-8/AHI data, which uses six region-specific aerosol models derived from long-term ground observations in East Asia—a paper that has garnered 73 citations.
