About
Federico Insero is a researcher at the forefront of human-robot collaboration and advanced additive manufacturing. His work centers on two key areas: integrating brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) with collaborative robots (cobots) for industrial applications, and developing non-planar 3D printing strategies for robotic fused deposition modeling (FDM). Insero’s major contributions include pioneering BCI-driven control systems that allow operators to guide cobots using neural signals, as demonstrated in his highly cited 2022 study on hand-guiding control in human-robot collaborative assembly tasks (16 citations). This work, along with his 2021 paper on BCI for human-cobot interaction (13 citations), addresses critical challenges in small and medium enterprises by enabling intuitive, hands-free robot control. In additive manufacturing, Insero has advanced non-planar slicing algorithms for 6-axis robotic FDM, enabling the fabrication of free-form geometries without support structures. His 2023 paper on non-planar slicing for filled free-form geometries (10 citations) and his 2022 study on infill strategies (7 citations) have significantly improved layer thickness control and surface quality. With over 48 total citations, Insero’s research is shaping the future of smart manufacturing and adaptive 3D printing.
