About
Ashwin Ashok is a leading researcher in mobile optical communications and cyber-physical systems, with a focus on integrating visible light communication (VLC) and camera-based sensing into autonomous platforms. His most cited work, "Challenge" (2010, 116 citations), addresses a fundamental limitation of mobile optical communications—the short range and directionality of optical transmissions—by proposing the use of CCD and CMOS imaging technology to enable robust, steerable links without mechanical components.
