About
Ao Zhong is a leading figure in the development of flexible and wearable sensor technologies, with a primary focus on human motion detection and health monitoring. His most influential work centers on the design and fabrication of high-performance strain sensors using innovative composite materials. In his landmark 2020 paper, which has garnered over 110 citations, Zhong introduced a novel flexible strain sensor based on CNTs/PDMS microspheres. This contribution is notable for achieving an exceptional balance of high sensitivity, wide detection range, and mechanical durability, enabling precise detection of subtle human motions such as joint bending and pulse. By engineering the microsphere structure to enhance piezoresistive response, Zhong’s work has provided a scalable and practical pathway for integrating wearable sensors into smart textiles and biomedical devices. His research has been widely recognized for advancing the fundamental understanding of conductive polymer composites and for its direct applications in real-time human motion monitoring, rehabilitation, and soft robotics.
