Andrew G. Sikora is a leading head and neck surgical oncologist whose research has fundamentally reshaped the treatment of oropharyngeal cancer, particularly by advancing transoral robotic surgery (TORS) as a precise, minimally invasive alternative to chemoradiation. His work focuses on optimizing oncologic outcomes while dramatically reducing treatment toxicity. Sikora’s landmark 2011 study on TORS resection and reconstruction (163 citations) established the procedure’s safety and efficacy, while his cost-effectiveness analysis (100 citations) provided the economic rationale for its adoption over chemoradiotherapy.
