About
Anam Abid is a robotics and control systems researcher whose work sits at the intersection of intelligent fault detection, sensor fusion, and assistive robotics. Her research has made meaningful contributions to the challenge of ensuring reliability and safety in autonomous and human-assistive robotic systems — areas that are critical as robots increasingly operate in unpredictable, real-world environments. Abid is perhaps best known for her pioneering work on model-free, data-driven fault detection and isolation (FDI) in mobile robots. Recognizing that traditional model-based approaches struggle in dynamic and uncertain environments, she developed multi-sensor, multi-level fusion frameworks that leverage behavioral analysis to detect and isolate faults without reliance on rigid mathematical models.
