Amy Ogan is a leading voice in the design of socially intelligent, culturally-responsive AI for education. Her research sits at the intersection of learning sciences, human-computer interaction, and social robotics, with a focus on how technology can foster meaningful relationships and equity in learning environments. She is best known for pioneering the concept of "teachable robots"—social agents that learn from students, thereby building rapport and improving outcomes. Her seminal work, "We’re in this Together" (26 citations), established a framework for intentionally designing social relationships with AIED systems.
