About
A pioneer in minimally invasive surgery, Dr. Alexander Rosemurgy has fundamentally advanced the field of robotic hepatopancreaticobiliary (HPB) surgery. His career is defined by two parallel tracks: the engineering of novel surgical tools and the clinical validation of complex robotic procedures. Early in his career, he led the development of the MARVEL system—a wireless, miniature anchored robotic videoscope designed to eliminate cabling bottlenecks in laparoscopy. This foundational work in wireless surgical robotics, detailed in his highly cited 2012 paper (62 citations), aimed to free surgeons from cumbersome equipment. More recently, Dr. Rosemurgy has focused on refining and expanding the role of robotics in the most challenging abdominal surgeries.
