Maria Christodoulou is a pioneering hepatobiliary and robotic surgeon whose work is redefining the boundaries of minimally invasive surgery. Her research centers on the application of robotic platforms for complex liver, biliary, and esophageal procedures, with a particular focus on developing and validating intraoperative difficulty scoring systems. In her landmark study analyzing 500 robotic hepatectomies, she demonstrated a clear learning curve, providing critical benchmarks for surgical training and safety.
