About
Yanming Li’s research bridges atmospheric science and robotics, with a focus on aerosol monitoring and autonomous vehicle control. In a landmark 2019 study, Li combined satellite and surface observations to analyze aerosol optical depth (AOD) across China’s diverse ecological regions from 2000 to 2017. This work, which has garnered 121 citations, provides critical long-term data for climate change assessment and ecological studies, revealing spatial and temporal trends in atmospheric particulates. In robotics, Li developed a two-layer trajectory tracking control scheme for manipulators using ELM-SMC, published in 2023 and cited 37 times, advancing autonomous driving for specialized vehicles. Earlier, Li designed the Finned Tube Inspection Robot (FTIR), a novel mobile robot with snake-like arms for inspecting finned tubes in constrained industrial spaces. This innovative work, though less cited, demonstrates Li’s versatility in solving real-world engineering challenges. Li’s contributions span environmental monitoring and robotics, offering valuable tools for climate science and autonomous systems.
