About

Serim Lee is a rising researcher in the field of medical robotics, with a focus on endovascular interventions and magnetic navigation systems. Her work centers on developing precise control and retrieval mechanisms for untethered magnetic robots (UMRs) and magnetic helical robots (MHRs) used in minimally invasive vascular procedures. In her 2023 paper, Lee proposed a novel method to identify the position of a tethered delivery catheter for safely retrieving a UMR from a vascular environment—a critical step for ensuring procedural safety and device recovery. Her 2024 work introduced a voltage minimization control method for magnetic navigation systems (MNS), enhancing the rotating magnetic field (RMF) used to actuate MHRs for tunneling through clogged blood vessels. Although early in her career, with papers accumulating 4 and 3 citations respectively, Lee’s contributions address key challenges in magnetic robot control and energy efficiency, laying groundwork for more reliable and effective endovascular treatments. Her research holds promise for advancing the clinical translation of magnetic microrobots in interventional medicine.
