Martin L. Freeman is a world-renowned authority in advanced pancreatic endoscopy and interventional gastroenterology. His pioneering work has fundamentally transformed the management of complex pancreatic diseases, particularly severe acute pancreatitis and its complications. Dr. Freeman is best known for developing and championing minimally invasive endoscopic techniques as alternatives to high-risk surgery, including endoscopic necrosectomy for walled-off pancreatic necrosis. His landmark contributions include establishing the role of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) in acute biliary pancreatitis and refining pancreatic duct stenting to prevent post-ERCP pancreatitis.
