K. Krishna Moorthy is a distinguished atmospheric scientist whose pioneering research has fundamentally advanced our understanding of aerosol-climate interactions over the South Asian region. His work centers on three interconnected pillars: the characterization of maritime aerosols, the simulation of aerosol impacts on regional climate, and the quantification of aerosol radiative effects. Moorthy’s most impactful contribution is his leadership in developing the Maritime Aerosol Network (MAN) as a component of the Aerosol Robotic Network (AERONET), a landmark achievement detailed in his highly cited 2009 paper (379 citations).
