About

Dr. Hui-Xiong Xu is a pioneering force in medical ultrasound, renowned for advancing tele-ultrasonography and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS). His landmark work investigates the clinical feasibility of 5G-based robot-assisted tele-ultrasonography (RATU), demonstrating that remote, real-time ultrasound exams can be performed with diagnostic accuracy comparable to in-person scans. This breakthrough promises to bridge critical gaps in healthcare access, particularly for rural and underserved populations. Dr. Xu’s research also extensively explores CEUS for characterizing focal liver lesions, establishing standardized diagnostic algorithms that have been widely adopted in clinical practice. With over 20,000 citations, his work has fundamentally shaped how radiologists approach ultrasound-based diagnosis. His recent prospective studies on RATU learning curves for radiologists are defining new training paradigms for telemedicine. A prolific author and frequent keynote speaker, Dr. Xu’s contributions are not only technical but also deeply practical—pushing the boundaries of what is possible in remote diagnostics and ensuring that cutting-edge ultrasound technology reaches patients wherever they are.
