About
Giorgio Bogani is a prominent gynecologic oncologist and minimally invasive surgeon whose research has significantly shaped modern approaches to gynecological cancers and pelvic floor disorders. His work spans robotic-assisted surgery, laparoscopic techniques, and surgical oncology, with particular focus on endometrial and cervical cancers, as well as pelvic organ prolapse. Bogani's most influential contribution — a 2014 systematic review and meta-analysis on robot-assisted sacrocolpopexy (183 citations) — helped establish the evidence base for robotic surgery in treating pelvic organ prolapse. His widely cited 2011 work on vaginal cuff closure following minimally invasive hysterectomy (151 citations) addressed a critical technical challenge that directly influences patient safety outcomes. His 2016 analysis of robotic surgery for endometrial cancer staging (97 citations) further demonstrated the procedure's clinical and economic viability. More recently, Bogani has pioneered the application of single-port robotic platforms across gynecologic oncology, evaluating their feasibility in endometrial and ovarian cancer staging. His responsiveness to clinical challenges is also evident in his timely 2020 publication addressing gynecologic oncology practice during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through rigorous comparative studies and systematic reviews, Bogani continues advancing safer, less invasive surgical options for women with complex gynecological conditions.
