About
Dr. G. Tsaknakis is a leading atmospheric physicist whose research focuses on the optical, microphysical, and geometrical properties of aerosol particles, with a particular emphasis on volcanic plumes and their long-range transport. His most cited work, a 2013 study on aged volcanic particles from the Eyjafjallajökull eruption, has garnered 45 citations and stands as a landmark contribution to the field. In this study, Tsaknakis pioneered a synergistic approach, combining Raman lidar and sunphotometer measurements to retrieve, for the first time, comprehensive vertical profiles of volcanic aerosol properties over Athens, Greece.
