About

Farshad Samadi is a robotics researcher whose work focuses on two critical challenges in autonomous systems: humanoid locomotion and vision-based robotic control. His research addresses fundamental problems in making robots walk naturally and interact with their environments through visual feedback. In his 2014 paper on walking pattern generation for humanoid robots, Samadi proposed novel approaches using Zero Moment Point (ZMP)-based methods, including the Linear Inverted Pendulum Mode and Gravity Compensated Inverted Pendulum Mode, to generate more natural walking trajectories. This work, which has accumulated 7 citations, contributes to the ongoing challenge of achieving stable, human-like gait in bipedal robots. Complementing this work, his 2014 study on adaptive vision-based control of robot manipulators (6 citations) tackles the problem of controlling robotic arms when camera parameters are uncertain. By developing an image-based controller that uses interpolating polynomials to estimate the image Jacobian, Samadi provided a robust solution for robots operating in uncalibrated visual environments. His research bridges the gap between theoretical control methods and practical implementation, offering valuable insights for students and researchers working on humanoid robotics and vision-guided manipulation systems.
