Eduardo Reck Miranda is a pioneering figure at the intersection of music, artificial intelligence, and robotics. His research focuses on computational evolutionary musicology, affective computing, and the emergent musical behaviors of autonomous social robots. Miranda’s most notable contribution is his groundbreaking work on modeling music cognition through emergent behavior, demonstrated in his highly cited 2008 paper “Emergent songs by social robots” (9 citations). In this study, he programmed a group of interactive autonomous singing robots to spontaneously develop a shared repertoire of songs from scratch, offering profound insights into the origins of musical culture.
