About

Ding Ding’s research focuses on the dynamics, structural design, and optimization of specialized robotic systems, particularly wheel-legged robots, wall-climbing robots, and palletizing robots. A key contribution is the development of a dynamic model for a wheel-legged robot that accounts for variable height and its effect on wheel slip ratio—an improvement over previous models that ignored height changes. This work, published in 2012, demonstrated that joint torque is inversely proportional to robot height, validated by Adams simulations with less than 2% error. Ding also contributed to the structural design of a permanent-magnet adsorption tracked wall-climbing robot for ship hulls, enabling vertical climbing via ac servo motor drive. Additionally, Ding performed dynamic analysis and structural optimization of a novel palletizing robot. While individual citation counts for these papers range from 2 to 8, they represent foundational work in mobile robotics and industrial automation. Ding’s research advances the practical deployment of robots in challenging environments, from variable-height locomotion to ship maintenance and material handling.
