Christophe Ferron is a leading French head and neck surgeon whose research centers on transoral robotic surgery (TORS) for complex aerodigestive tract cancers. His most impactful work, a 2018 GETTEC group study on TORS for pyriform sinus carcinoma (50 citations), established key benchmarks for both oncological safety and functional preservation in this challenging anatomical site. Ferron has been instrumental in expanding TORS applications, notably demonstrating its viability as a salvage strategy after previous radiotherapy—a 2024 multicenter study of 138 patients provided critical evidence for this high-risk population. More recently, his 2025 REFCOR study broke new ground by evaluating TORS for rare salivary carcinomas of the base of tongue, further broadening the robotic surgery frontier.
