About
Dr. Chi-Feng Hung is a leading urologic oncologist whose research has fundamentally shaped the understanding and surgical management of urologic cancers, particularly in Taiwan. His work spans the epidemiology of urologic malignancies to the refinement of robotic-assisted surgical techniques. A landmark contribution is his comprehensive 2016 study on "Urologic cancer in Taiwan" (69 citations), which documented a critical rising trend in prostate, bladder, and kidney cancers, establishing a vital epidemiological baseline for the region. Dr. Hung is also a pioneer in robotic surgery, having conducted pivotal research on robotic-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (RALP). His 2014 study (36 citations) provided essential perioperative and functional outcome data for patients with prior transurethral resection of the prostate, while his 2011 work (27 citations) meticulously analyzed the rare but severe complication of bowel injury during RALP, improving surgical safety protocols. Additionally, his early 2009 report on robotic-assisted partial nephrectomy helped establish this nephron-sparing technique for small renal masses. Through these contributions, Dr. Hung has advanced both the population-level understanding of urologic cancers and the precision of their surgical treatment.
