Cheng-Liang Liu is a leading researcher in the field of bio-inspired optoelectronics, with a focus on developing next-generation photonic synapses for artificial intelligence and robotics. His work centers on creating stretchable, low-energy neuromorphic devices that mimic biological synaptic behavior using light. Liu’s major contributions include pioneering the use of conjugated block copolymers and perovskite quantum dot nanocomposites to fabricate photosynaptic transistors that operate with ultralow energy consumption—a critical step toward energy-efficient AI hardware.
