Liebig is a leading figure in the field of gravitational microlensing, a powerful technique for detecting exoplanets and stellar remnants that are otherwise invisible. Liebig’s primary research focuses on developing and implementing fully deterministic observing strategies to maximize the statistical yield of microlensing surveys, a critical step toward understanding the demographics of planetary systems across the galaxy. Their landmark 2010 paper, “Realisation of a fully‐deterministic microlensing observing strategy for inferring planet populations,” has garnered 88 citations for providing a robust framework for population-level inferences.
