About

Andrei Variu is a cosmologist at the forefront of precision measurements of the universe’s large-scale structure. His primary research focuses on using baryon acoustic oscillations (BAOs) as a standard ruler to probe dark energy and the expansion history of the cosmos. Variu made a landmark contribution as a key member of the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) collaboration, co-authoring the first detection of the BAO signal from early DESI data.
