About

Hu Zou is a leading instrumentalist and cosmologist at the forefront of dark energy research, best known for his pivotal contributions to the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI). His primary research areas encompass precision astronomical instrumentation, large-scale structure cosmology, and the measurement of baryon acoustic oscillations (BAOs). Zou played a central role in the development and calibration of DESI’s revolutionary robotic focal plane system, a complex array of 5,020 fiber positioners that autonomously retarget celestial objects every 10–20 minutes with micron-level precision.
