About
Amrit Raj Paul is a rising expert in advanced manufacturing, specializing in wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) and the digital modeling of robotic fabrication processes. His research focuses on overcoming critical challenges in metal additive manufacturing, particularly the inhomogeneous mechanical properties that have historically limited the adoption of low-carbon steel for structural components. In his highly cited 2021 paper, Paul demonstrated a breakthrough method to achieve near homogeneous properties in WAAM-produced low-carbon steel, paving the way for reliable, near-net-shaped structural parts. This work, with 11 citations, addresses a key barrier to industrial adoption. Complementing this, his 2021 study on hybridized artificial neural network-based expert systems (9 citations) introduced intelligent modeling approaches to predict and optimize robotic WAAM processes. By fusing experimental metallurgy with machine learning, Paul is helping to transform additive manufacturing from a prototyping tool into a viable production technology for structural engineering. His contributions are particularly valuable for researchers and engineers seeking to combine process control, material science, and artificial intelligence to create robust, high-quality additively manufactured components.
