About

Amit Kumar Ror is an emerging astrophysicist whose research centers on the high-energy universe, with a particular focus on gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) and their multi-wavelength afterglows. His work explores the complex physics of GRB prompt emission and the onset of external forward shocks, especially in the context of very-high-energy (VHE) detected bursts. In a landmark 2023 study (17 citations), Ror conducted a detailed analysis of GRB 201015A and GRB 201216C, employing Bayesian time-resolved spectroscopy to probe the multistructured emission of these VHE events. He has also tackled the enigmatic class of “dark GRBs,” as in his 2024 investigation of GRB 150309A (7 citations), where he used multi-wavelength data to disentangle whether such bursts are extinguished by dust or lie at high redshift. Through these contributions, Ror is helping to refine our understanding of jet physics, circumburst environments, and the origin of VHE emission in cosmic explosions. His work is already shaping the observational strategies for next-generation facilities like CTA and SVOM.
