About
Dr. Ali Al-Daghmin is a leading urologic oncologist whose research has fundamentally advanced the field of robot-assisted radical cystectomy (RARC) for bladder cancer. His work, central to the International Robotic Cystectomy Consortium (IRCC), has provided critical, large-scale evidence establishing the oncologic safety and efficacy of the robotic approach. His landmark 2015 study, cited over 170 times, demonstrated robust long-term oncologic outcomes for RARC, while his 2014 work on 90-day readmission rates identified key predictors for improving postoperative care. Dr. Al-Daghmin has also been instrumental in validating predictive nomograms for survival and recurrence after RARC, and in proving the surgical feasibility of the technique for advanced T4 bladder cancer. Beyond survival, his multi-institutional research has shown that RARC offers comparable health-related quality of life to open surgery, addressing a crucial patient-centered outcome. By systematically evaluating long-term results, complications, and quality of life, Dr. Al-Daghmin’s contributions have been pivotal in solidifying RARC as a standard, evidence-based treatment option for patients with bladder cancer.
