About
Albert Lo is a pioneering researcher in neurorehabilitation robotics, whose work has fundamentally reshaped how we approach recovery after neurological injury. His primary research areas include robot-assisted therapy for stroke, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson’s disease, with a focus on both upper-limb and gait impairments. Lo’s landmark 2010 multicenter trial, cited over 1,400 times, demonstrated that robot-assisted therapy can produce meaningful, long-term improvements in chronic stroke patients—a population long considered beyond the reach of conventional rehabilitation. This study, along with his subsequent economic analysis, provided the evidence base for integrating robotics into standard care.
