About
Robert Ringer is a leading figure in stroke rehabilitation research, with a career dedicated to developing and validating robot-assisted therapies for upper-limb impairment. His key research areas include neurorehabilitation, robotics, and health economics. Ringer’s most impactful contribution is his landmark 2010 multicenter randomized controlled trial, cited over 1,400 times, which demonstrated that robot-assisted therapy can significantly improve long-term motor function in chronic stroke patients—even six months or more post-injury. This work challenged prevailing assumptions about recovery windows and established a new standard for rehabilitative care.
