Abstract

Pigeons have natural obstacle avoidance and group coordination abilities. In recent years, they have received extensive attention as a research carrier of robot-animals. However, the current research on robot-pigeon is mostly around the biological stimulation and flight control methods of the single pigeon, and the control of pigeon cluster flight is still in its infancy. After analyzing the characteristics of pigeon cluster flight, this paper introduces a remote monitoring and control system for robot-pigeons cluster flight, including the device carried by the pigeon and background service software. It uses wireless remote control and self-organizing network communication within the cluster, while displaying the trajectory on the map, allowing the operator to control and monitor the flight status of the clusters online. After testing, the system realizes the remote control of the flight path of the master pigeon, the slave pigeon can be stimulated according to the deviation feedback to keep flying within 200 meters centered on the master pigeon, and the flight path of the pigeon clusters can be displayed in real time on the map software.
